The Mothers Suicide

The father had a flashback from when the mother was still with them. They talked about a lot of things and she pretty much told him that she couldn't handle the world anymore and she killed herself. Nobody knows how though. My thoughts about it are that I don't think she should have done it but at the same time, I understand why she did. I think she should've stayed for her family. Obviously, they lived. I understand because of the situation. Everyone is pretty much dead, you are nearly starving to death and have to sleep in the streets. Thats pretty tramatic and at some point in time a lot of people are going to want to kill themselves. If it was me, I would feel that way but more than likely, I wouldn't be able to do it. I would stay with my family.

Imagery

When I was a child, my favorite thing about summertime was camping with my family. Every single day we went canoeing and swimming down the river. It was hot, and I remember my skin burning from the 3rd degree sunburn on my shoulders, back, and legs. When we got back to camp we would alwasy sit down and fix lunch, (or dinner, depending on what time we got back to camp).
For dinner, we always had something really good like steak cooked on a grill, or hamburgers and hotdogs; simple stuff. After dinner, all the kids would watch a movie, if somebody brought a camper, and all the adults would sit by the fire and have their own time. The worst camp experience I ever had was during Memorial Day about 6 or 7 years ago, a girl died at camp. She was very drunk when she came out there, uninvited, and she got into a fight with my uncle. Well she took a whole bunch of pills on top of all the alcohol she was drinking, and her heart exploded in her sleep. The tent was bloody, it smelled disgusting, and her body was ice cold. Everyone tried to wake her up not knowing she was dead but after a couple hours of no response, somebody went in there and found her. They called an ambulance immediatly and all of us kids had to stay in the camper that was brought out there. It was very horrifying. A lot of families that were camping packed up their stuff and left instantly when they found out what was going on. After that, no kids were allowed at camp until they were 16 years old. Thats been a family rule ever since that happened.

Inciting Incident

So an inciting incident is pretty much an event in a book or movie that leads up to another event that really gets the story moving and makes it very interesting. An inciting incident in my life would probably be when I got pregnant. It caused me to grow up, get a job, and learn the struggles of life. So now I'm almost 18 years old, with a 9 month old, a part time (25 hours/week) job, and school on top of doctors appointments, shopping, and having to budget money to save for things that I may need or her. I don't really get to hang out with my friends much. I stay at home and take care of her. I still live with my parents so I have them plus 2 brothers and 2 sisters in my house. It's very hard to be a single teen mom who does all the things that I do but I do it and I do it well. :)

So we are reading the book "The Road'' by Cormac McCarthy. I read the first 17 pages and so far it's pretty good. The only things that have happened right now is they've slept and woke up and then found some oil at an old shop and stuff like that. So nothing too interesting. But the man has said in the book that if they get wet, they could die because it's so cold. They are heading towards the south because they want to be warm, even if there is nothing waiting for them there. They are probably the only ones alive where they are. There's no people, no cars, no businesses, nothing. I haven't figured out why yet. Kinda anxious to see what comes up nextt.
